Neurological Malignancies Symposium

The incidence of primary CNS malignancies in the United States is approximately 25,000 per year with an estimated death rate of 16,000 from these tumors.  Additionally, secondary malignancies due to metastatic disease are increasingly becoming a major source of morbidity as improving treatment for non-CNS sites have resulted in an improvement in outcomes.  The current treatment of primary CNS malignancies has evolved due to an understanding of the genomic features of the disorders with the availability of potential targeted therapeutic options in the United States and globally. To address the needs of providers and medical professionals caring for patients with primary or secondary brain cancers, a one-day symposium to address these disorders is presented by Indy Hematology Education.  The goal is to define and address the challenges in the care of neurologic malignancies with particular attention to understanding the genomic profile of brain tumors and the treatment of high-grade and low-grade gliomas.
